One Step At A Time - Rebekah Chong

Producer : Rebekah Chong

More than 200 years ago, God chose this land – Malaysia. Although Malaysia has not been a shinning star on world stage, it has its vital role in God’s eternal plan. It is a hidden treasure being carved and polished by God, awaiting the day to bear witness to His amazing deeds for His glory…

Be that financial tsunami, earthquakes, abnormal weather patterns, tense international relations, or national political turmoil – none of these phenomena is foreign to our world at large in the past decade. When human hearts are fainting in the midst of uncertain future, the Holy Spirit reminds me, God is the almighty One who could turn a dry land into water springs, encouraging me to seize the chance to pray to Him and to work with Him.

2007 marked Malaysia’s 50th Anniversary of Independence; 2007 also marked the significant bicentenary of Missionary Robert Morrison’s arrival in China. After praying and waiting for four years, The Provider Productions Bhd was led to initiate an event “Malaysia Jubilee Mission Expo” that commemorated these two historic occasions. God used Malaysia as an important mission base for Rev. Morrison and Rev. Milne when they brought the gospel to China. The selfless dedication of western missionaries serves not only as my role model of Christian service, it has also broadened my spiritual horizons. Afterwards, I continues to seek God’s will, learning to make the next step in faith…

In 2009 I heard a whisper, “Walk the Land in Malaysia”. This is the time for God to showcase His hidden treasure. This is the time for people to learn about His amazing deeds done in Malaysia so that churches would get ready to reap the abundant harvest! Starting from mid-2009, my team and I launched our 2-year cross-country journey. In all 13 states, we endeavoured to track down missional traces. With a drop here and a drop there, we collected and we compiled, hoping to invite you to join us to take a ride on this ‘mission river’.

History tells not only the past; history also reveals the future. Without knowing the past, what are we going to make of our present and how are we going to plan for our future? If we fail to count our blessings, we would easily forget all the good that God has done to us. If we fail to read our history, we would easily overlook our God-given spiritual legacies.

Even though God has done different deeds in different states all over Malaysia, one common point is found in all His deeds – no one can close the door that God has opened (ref. Isaiah 22:22). The key issue is, “are we willing to work with Him faithfully?”

Both quantity and variety of mission-related information are simply overwhelming in all the states that we have visited. Although we have been trying our best to make all possible verification, I am sure there are points that you could help us improve. We humbly look forward to getting your comments in any case.
